About Diabetes

Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is basically metabolism disorder. Metabolism is a function of a human body that works to digest food for growth and to generate energy for body. Most of the things that humans eat are broken down into glucose. Glucose is basically a type of sugar in human blood, which works as a fuel for body.
While the process of digestion takes place, glucose makes its way into bloodstream and then blood cells use glucose for the growth and energy of the body. Though glucose cannot enter cells without insulin in blood, the insulin makes blood cells take in the glucose.
A hormone that is produced by the pancreas is called insulin. Pancreas manually releases a sufficient quantity of insulin to shift the glucose present in blood into the cells and keep the blood sugar level balanced.
A diabetic patient has a state in which the amount of glucose in the blood is too high. It is because the body of the patient does not produce sufficient insulin, or the cells do not react accurately to the insulin that the pancreatic hormone produces. As a result, excessive glucose starts building up in the blood. This excessive blood glucose finally passes out of the body through urine. Blood has abundance of glucose, which cells cannot take for their essential growth; it is not even required by our body.
There are three main types of diagnosed diabetes, which are as follow:
Type 1: In this type, insulin is not produced at all.
Type 2: In this type, insufficient insulin is produced as compared to the requirements of the body, or you can also say that insulin stops working.
Type 3: It is a type that develops when you conceive it.
Type 1 and type 2 are long-term diseases and also result into chronic conditions; they not only persist but are also everlasting diseases. On the other hand, type 3 normally resolves after pregnancy.
There are some effective treatments of diabetes.
It was considered as fatal disease until insulin was not discovered. But now, Diabetes is a treatable disease, but unfortunately there is no cure for type 1 and type 2 diabetes; they are lifetime diseases. The doctors usually suggest injected insulin, which is available easily at pharmacy stores, some exercises and nutritional food.
The patients with type 2 are normally treated with insulin injections and pumps. A special diet and some exercises are also required for the patients with type 2.
If you are a patient with type 1 and type 2, you should follow the instructions of your doctor and take insulin and exercise on proper time. Another way to keep the level of glucose balanced is by checking your glucose level with glucose monitors. They are good devices to keep at home, as they are economically priced and enable diabetic patients to check the glucose level at any time. Usually, a finger or forearm is pricked and a drop of blood is inserted into a glucose meter, which tells the amount of glucose in the blood, so that a diabetic patient can live a normal and a healthy life.
