Diabetes has become a very common
disease. However, it goes undiagnosed in many people, as most of the
people are unaware of the symptoms. In most of the cases, it is
diagnosed at a very later stage, when it has already damaged many organs
of the body. Therefore, it will be very helpful for everyone to have
some idea of the symptoms of diabetes in adults, so that if they notice
anything, they can get it checked immediately before it is too late. In
most of the adults, the disease goes unnoticed because of lack of
awareness. Some people take the symptoms as causes of aging, without
giving it a thought that it can be diabetes.
Diabetes is such a problem that can be
controlled if it is diagnosed in time. There are medications for
controlling it, and it can even be controlled with diet. Therefore, the
symptoms must be known to everyone, so that they can take the necessary
actions. The most common symptoms of diabetes are often overlooked. The
most common symptom is frequent urination. Even though you have not
drank too much water or any other fluid, still you feel the urge to
urinate more often. Along with urination, you also feel very thirsty and
feel fatigued. When the glucose level in the body is low, you will feel
low on energy.
In most of the patients, diabetes can
cause extreme hunger and loss of weight. The person feels very hungry,
even though he/she has just eaten a large portion of meal. Similarly,
even though their food intake is right, they are still losing weight.
So, this can be a very visible symptom of diabetes. The most noticeable
symptom of diabetes is that the wounds do not heal; instead, they start
getting worse. In most of the cases of diabetes, if the patient has a
wound, it develops into gangrene, thus affecting a limb which then has
to be amputated in most of the cases to avoid affecting other parts of
the body.
The patients of diabetes also feel
numbness in hands and feet. They develop neuropathy. Some other symptoms
of diabetes include blurriness of vision, feeling mental confusion and
having itchy skin and tender gums. These are some of the symptoms of
diabetes. If you feel any one of these, the immediate reaction should be
to get your blood tests done. If there are any elders in your home and
they are showing any such symptoms, you must get their blood tested as
well.
The earlier the diagnosis, the better it
will be for you to cure it. Often, we ignore these symptoms such as
fatigue and numbness. These symptoms are often confused with tiredness
because of working. Therefore, no one even thinks of getting a proper
checkup. Some people feel happy that they have increased appetite and
even if they are eating a lot, they do not gain weight. However, you
need to think over it that if you do not have the tendency of staying
thin then why you are not gaining weight, even though you are
overeating.
