Diabetes is a disease which once
diagnosed has no cure that can reverse it back. However, it must be
known that there are few maneuvers that can retard the growth of this
disease to its possible complications. Exercise and regular check on the
blood sugar levels are two examples of these maneuvers and we will take
them into the focus of consideration in the upcoming paragraphs.
There is no doubt that regular exercise
plays a pivotal role in maintaining the health of someone who has been
diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Now, the question that arises is that
how exercises can do several things that are needed to control diabetes.
With exercise, a diabetic can improve the already low ability of body to
utilize insulin. With the help of this, the excess glucose that is
moving around in the blood of a diabetic person is absorbed by muscles.
Therefore, excess glucose levels in the blood are brought down into a
certain control, which may not seem to be beneficial initially but may
benefit a lot in the long run.
Another benefit that can be achieved
with the help of exercise is that with the help of exercise, a diabetic
person may be able to burn excessive fat, and exercise may be helpful in
decreasing the LDL (the bad cholesterol) levels, while increasing the
HDL (good cholesterol) levels. Additionally, many Type II diabetics are
seen to have a problem with blood pressure, so with the help of
exercise, a diabetic person can significantly control the high blood
pressure.
The reason why high blood pressure is
extremely important to be controlled in diabetes is because a
combination of diabetes along with high blood pressure is a lethal
accelerator of the complications of diabetes. Also, regular exercise may
increase your energy level and release tensions and stress from your
mind.
With exercise, you should also be able
to keep a regular check on your blood sugar levels. For diabetic
patients, it must be known that the blood sugar may neither get too high
nor too low. With the help of exercise, you may be able to bring down
your glucose levels, but if you do not eat anything, you will get prone
to developing hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels), which is a
dangerous condition. Therefore, exercise is mandatory but with a
combination of regular check on the blood glucose levels.
To conclude, it must be said that with
exercise, you can bring down the increased blood sugar levels in
diabetes. However, monitoring blood sugar levels frequently, along with
exercise, has been a way in which many diabetics have been able to
control and prevent the disease from proceeding to further
complications. If a newly diagnosed person keeps regular check on blood
sugar levels with regular exercises, he may not even require the use of
medications to control his blood sugar levels. So, if you are a diabetic
and you are reading this article, do inculcate the habits of regular
exercising, along with regular checking of your blood sugar levels.
