Diabetes 2

Diabetes is a common disease which is caused by an insulin disorder in the body. It is the effect of either an insulin deficiency, or the body’s inability to use the insulin properly. Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas in the body, and it is needed to control the glucose levels in our blood. In a diabetes patient, the blood sugar levels are high because there is not enough insulin or the body does not respond to it.

There are two main types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 2 is the more common form of diabetes, and it mostly affects older people. In Type 2, the body cannot use the insulin produced by the pancreas effectively, which leads to high blood sugar levels. This is also known as insulin resistance, because your body cannot respond to insulin. This means that all other parts of the body such as the liver, fat, and muscles can also not respond to insulin in the way that is necessary for normal functioning. As a result of this, the cells cannot store glucose to be used as energy. This eventually leads to hyperglycemia, and there is never enough insulin to keep up with the body’s demand.

Diabetes Type 2 usually occurs gradually in people. Family history and genetics are one of the major causes of this disease, and people with both parents having diabetes are at high risk of developing it. Being overweight also puts you at a higher risk for Type 2. There are many lifestyle factors which are seen as causes of this type of diabetes. People who do not have a healthy diet, or do not get enough exercise are at a higher risk of developing this disease. Hypertension, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are also conditions which can lead to diabetes Type 2.

There are many common symptoms of diabetes. Increased urination is something which is experienced by most patients. Patients also experience increased thirst and increased appetite. People with this disease usually have slow healing wounds and infections, and they also experience fatigue and weakness. Sometimes, people can also have blurred vision as well as weight loss due to diabetes.
Type 2 is usually diagnosed with a fasting blood glucose level test. The oral glucose tolerance test can also be done to check for this disease. It is important to act fast if you have Type 2 diabetes because that is the only way that you can get it in under control. Make sure that you are checked by the doctor if you are experiencing some or all of the mentioned symptoms.

There are many ways to control Diabetes 2 and it involves making a lifestyle change. It is important to control your diet, and get regular exercise so that you can keep your blood sugar levels in the normal range. There are also many oral medications which can help, as well as insulin shots which are administered to patients when needed.
